Tyson Gay,a world class sprinter, experienced a hamstring injury just six-weeks prior to the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. It is too bad many young people of today could not see through Tyson Gay and see what it means to be dedicated and determined not to permit obstacles to get in your way. It is comforting to know that in spite of his failed attempts to compete for the gold medal, he made gold in a different way. He showed the world what it means to think beyond your own personal agenda. His injury, common to sprinters, was not the object of his attempts to participate. I believe he truly wanted to wind for his country at any cost. Instead, he sent a strong message that there are sometimes things in life more important than self. |
