Fiber is a combination of foods that play a very important role in our over all health. There are two types of fiber. There is the soluble fiber and the insoluble fiber. The soluble fiber is food that can be dissolved in our body and help clean out the cholesterol and other harmful elements from our blood. They help us avoid high blood pressure and they help protect us from heart attacks. The insoluble fibers do not dissolve in our system. they pass through our bodies and pushes through objects that could linger in our intestine and cause cancers. They clean the intestines and other vessels within the body.
Some people refer to fiber as roughage or bulk foods. Has your doctor ever asked if you eat dark leafy foods, or oats or beans. That is what they are referring to when they ask you about your diet. Some of the foods that are fiber healthy include whole wheat, oat bran, beans, raspberries, apples, citrus fruits as well as barley and carrots. Including both types of fiber in your diet will save your life and reduce the number of visits you make to the doctor's office.
There are many more benefits to eating fiber. A person increases their chances of avoiding colon cancer, avoiding constipation, decreased digestive problems, decreased bad cholesterol levels, and better control over the blood sugar content.
