The signs are obvious once a person learns to identify what are and what they see. The article was a great way to say to the world, you did not know. The writer gave specific signals that indicate the mentally challenged person is being or has been abused.

The article also identified the type person that is most likely to abuse mentally challenged persons and ways to protect the victims from continued abuse. That was great information. In addition to identifying the abuser, the article gave a few of the behaviors the victim may display.

Protecting and stopping abuse of mentally challenged individuals is a community issue that everyone must be made aware that it happens. The victims are often trusting of the person that responsible for them. They do not know how to protect themselves from the abusive behavior of individuals who choose to take advantage of them. They only know to show through negative behavior that something is not right in their world. Normally aggressive behavior would be frowned upon but aggressive behavior in a mentally challenged person could be a signal that a trusted person is taking advantage of the individual. Such behavior should be investigated and eliminate the suspension or source of abuse as soon as possible. This was a well written article and I would strongly recommend it to others.
