The article, Reading is Good for You." is a timely piece of work. For that I mean it is timed just right for the millions of children that will soon be on summer vacation. They can only look at so much television before they find themselves climbing the walls out of boredom.
The writer compared the benefits of reading with that of viewing television. As none of us are surprised to learn. Reading came out ahead of the competition with shining letters. Reading involves the person's brain engagement and good eye sight. The act of reading leaves a person with a sense of having been someplace when they lay the book down. A good thing about reading is the feeling one experiences at the end of the last line of the book. A person gets a feeling inside that there must be more to this book. Is there a sequel to this book? Is there another book in the making that will complete the story or better develop a character that was included in the story? Books give rise to making the imagination shift into gear and complete the story the way you wanted it to end.
As the writer pointed out, reading is good for seniors. They can go anyplace or visit anyone their imaginations permit. A side benefit to seniors reading is the brain stimulation they receive. Their reading reduces the chances of certain brain illnesses associated with age.
Reading is a good escape from TV's everyday depressing news clips. A person can escape the drama of life by reading a favorite book. They are sure to come out refreshed and ready to take on the realities of everyday life. The writer did a great job writing this article and I would recommend it and the website to to others.
