Good Intentions

Good intentions are good intentions. They are only valuable if action comes with our good intentions. Many of us make great New Years Resolutions to do many things or to stop doing some things. In this case we are talking about exercising on both accounts. We know in the back of our minds the benefits of such a program but our motivation to follow through gets lost some where in the process. Most people know there are more benefits to exercising than there are negatives but the negatives seem to win in the long run. There are many great reasons for establishing a routine that works for each of us personally.

A few good reasons for setting up a program and sticking to it are listed below. Maybe one for more of them may be the incentive you need to turn your life around and improve the quality of your entire being. If you often find yourself in an unpleasant, non happy mood, exercising is an instant turnaround for a not so pleasant mood. A good mood is contagious, it makes others want to be around you.

Have you noticed, people that participate in some type of physical activity seldom get sick? Could it be exercising helps improve their immune system?

Think about those pounds you want to shed. Exercising will automatically increase your metabolism. That means your body will burn more for a longer period of time. Did you know while your body is burning energy, your appetite is almost non existent? Did you know exercise can allow you to eat a little more than non-exercising without noticeable weight gain?  It would not be advisable to get in the habit of eating more but you will burn more calories from exercising than  from a sedentary life style. As you know exercising is a great way to monitor your weight.

The body can only function as well as the resources we put into it. In this case the lungs and heart need our input. Strengthening the capacity of lungs and heart helps ward off diseases. Breathing in healthy air clears the lungs and aerates the heart with rich clean oxygen filled blood cells. After a good exercise workout and a full day of activity,  you will be assured of a good night's rest. When you hear friends complain of restless nights, ask them if they are on an exercise program? If not suggest to them that a program could aid in their having a restful night's sleep.  You know if a person has a good night's rest, they are more willing to have fun in bed with their mate. That is an incentive in itself to get on an exercise program - a better sex life.  and last but not lease exercising can be fun if it is planned in a way that meets the needs of the individual. When it is all said and done, you will become a better person because you are in better physical health . You learned to exercise and put the body back in shape.
