I guess you might say, if we all had access to shoes that fit properly, fewer people would have back and hip problems. The writer made it perfectly clear the frustration many people experience when trying to find stores that offer a selection of shoes that are not only comfortable but stylish as well.

It is unfortunate people with unusual shoe sizes and widths have to go to specialty stores or order through the internet the shoes that fit the dimensions of their feet. That means waiting an extra week or two for the shoes to arrive. Hopefully when they arrive, they look as nice as the pictures in the shoe magazines. I wonder if merchants realize people today are not built the same today as they were a couple of generations ago. There are more people with feet that do not fall within the "normal" shoe size today than there were not too long ago.

Shoe manufacturers are making the odd sized shoes but they are distributed to the public through specialty stores that charge extra to have the shoe size in stock.
