Shoes are made to cover human's feet. Their beginnings are not known. We know they were created to protect the feet from the elements and rugged terrain. The earliest humans we know, was the cave man and woman. It is
safe to say, they were probably the first to wear shoes. Shoes to
protect their feet could have been fur from an animal skin or even
leaves wrapped around their feet. They were
probably able to escape covering their feet during warm Summers and Spring seasons. However during the cool and frosty Fall and Winter
seasons, it is logical, they covered their feet with something.
As time progressed, shoes began to tell a story about their owners. Shoes reflect the values of a person. They reflect the owners' social and economic standing as well. The quality of the shoe's craftsmanship and the design of shoes tell who that person is. Shoes are expressions of the person's personality. Shoes tell if a person is a fashion bug or if the person is interested in the shoe from a purely utilitarian point of view.
Time has taught us that shoes may be made of any material that suits the wearer. Today leather shoes are the traditional material used in making quality shoes. Synthetic materials are also used across the spectrum of shoe design. Synthetic materials materials allow long wearing shoes and weather proofing that leather is not able to provide. Synthetic shoes promote shoe comfort in nearly any type weather.
Shoe styles and comfort changes as fashion changes. But the basic shoe remains the same. The limits in shoe design and use are limited to the imagination of the designers and wearers.
Shoes may cover the entire feet and encased in yards of string called, "shoe strings." The shoes may be designed with unimaginable weights used to walk on the moon or walk in space or the bottom of the ocean. The shoe could also be designed to barely cover feet. Summer shoes called, "flip flops" allow the wearer to enjoy the warm Summer days with cool feet. Shoes may be worn as sexy adornments by women attending special occasions. Shoes have evolved as a extensions of our bodies. They are worn for nearly every occasion.
